As we begin to close out 2013, Grayed Jade was one of my favorite colors - and was listed by Pantone as one of the top colors for the year. It's so easy to see why this subtle and sophisticated color appeals to so many -- this shade is not quite mint, not quite blue, not quite gray but just a mist of a color somewhere in between those hues. This was the exact color I wanted for my bridesmaid dresses back when I got married, and I had the hardest time finding and describing this shade. I called it everything from mint, blue-gray, to pale seafoam, and ended up having to dye the dresses my nieces wore to something close to this color. ( I'll tell that full story someday!) Well, thank goodness J.Crew has come to the rescue for other brides who want this color by offering this shade which they call Dusty Shale. It's offered in many dress styles including strapless, one shoulder - like this one - and long column gowns.
It's such a wonderful color because it plays well with light blue, a touch of pale green, gold, silver and my favorite pairing right now - a pale blush. Think of this color as a neutral with cool, beachy undertones. While this is always the first color I think of for a beach wedding, it also has a hint of winter color to it too. I particularly love how it looks with pink flowers and a bit of dusty miller in a bouquet. I hope this color speaks (or whispers) to you! I certainly couldn't let 2013 go by without showing you this pretty color.

The dress is so pretty, it looks perfect for a spring or summer wedding. I think Grayed Jade fits it well - I have a jade bracelet that's very similar to the hue, such a lovely color.
