Pink Party Dress
So here's why details and context are so important for wedding attire! If you were to say to me, "Hey, Wedding Style Blogger, I'm going to wear a hot pink satin dress with bright flowers on it to a wedding." I might be a little worried. Hot pink satin and bright floral sounds like you'll have a lot going on, and since my guideline for dressing for a wedding is to be tasteful, and to not detract from the bride--well, hot pink and flowers don't exactly sound like they'll do the trick.
But when I found this dress -- a dress that is admittedly hot pink and floral -- I deemed it fantastically wedding appropriate! I just love the oversized floral print, the raspberry color, and just the whole sweet style of it. Because the cut is so conservative, and the style is so ladylike, and the scale of the floral is just right - I think it's a great dress to wear to a semi-formal summer wedding.
It's called the Chancey dress from Coast, and it's done in a duchess satin, so although it looks daytime because of the color; the formality of the fabric makes it great for evening. It's also just an all-around fun party dress, so the bride could wear this to her shower if it's in the evening, to her bachelorette party, or for an engagement party or rehearsal dinner.
I was so emboldened by this find, that I didn't even try to tone it down - instead, I put bright colored crystal Loren Hope accessories with this dress to make it a dressed-up party look, but it has so much going on you could just wear tiny studs, a simple bracelet, and simple accessories. ( Hey-- at least the sandals I picked are neutral, and the clutch is a simple solid pink !) In reality, the earrings and bracelet are small enough that they won't be too much on a real person. This dress would also look great with cobalt blue and purple accessories (believe me, I played around with it for a while!)
