Sapphire and Emerald: Green and Blue Wedding Colors

Well, another month has passed, and as we get deeper into fall and closer to winter, I find the deep jewel tones -- the sophisticated and sparkling cousins to the bright greens and blues I love in the summer -- are catching my eye these days.   Green and blue is one of my favorite preppy pairings for a summer wedding, so I'm bringing you the alternative -- and slightly more luminous--version of these colors for the late fall season: sapphire and emerald.

Emerald and sapphire seem to elevate the normal blue and green pairing to the right mix of festivity, formality and allure for this season. This pairing was first inspired by that gorgeous silk dress in that wonderful emerald color which J.Crew is calling "warm jade". I love the asymmetrical gathering at the side and the short sleeves, and also how it pairs with a deep navy or sapphire blue. I can easily picture some combination of these jewel-tone colors worn by the wedding party in a winter wedding . The ritzy bracelets and earrings coupled with silk dresses, and plaid ties for the groomsmen, feel like natural choices for an intimate wedding in a lodge or elegant restaurant in late fall or winter.  If you're a winter bride, and want classic and rich colors for your wedding, look no further than precious gems like sapphire and emerald for inspiration!
